Visitation Elementary School
Kansas City, MO
WaterPartners International teamed up with Visitation elementary school to raise awareness of the world water crisis around World Water Day. Visitation students of all ages designed T-shirts related to the theme of water and wore their T-shirts to school on Thursday, March 15, 2007. The idea of a design-your-own T-shirt contest came from members of the eighth grade class that felt strongly about this issue.

In honor of World Water Day on Thursday, March 22, 2007, students at The Franciscan School in Raleigh gathered dozens of gallon jugs and held water-fetching relays in a school-wide demonstration of the global water shortage. Cheryl Stevens’ fifth-grade classes filled their courtyard with gallon jugs to demonstrate the difference between the consumption of water per person in the United States—173 gallons per day--versus consumption in Honduras—only 8 gallons per day.
